Skate or Die -

Change of Context or Environment.
Place your object somewhere out of the ordinary.
The hourglass used as a halfpipe is certainly not a place you'd expect to see it.

Curves, edges, and perfect imperfections -

Combination
Combine 2 objects to make something new.
I combined the hourglass and the woman's body to create the shape of a woman in a more abstract kind of way.

You were born to stand out -

Isolation
Make an object that stands out from a group in some way.
In this image you have a lot of clocks and a single hourglass that stands out on its own. All the objects involve time, but the hourglass looks different than all the clocks.

Dig Deeper -

Juxtaposition
This concept is meant to show two similar things that are also very different in such a way that it highlights their differences. This slot canyon shows the rock formations similarities and differences.

Bubble gum bubble gum in a dish -

Material Swap or Change
Use a new material on an item where you would not expect to see it.
Using gumballs instead of sand is an entirely unexpected material for the hourglass. It  turns the hourglass into a new object by appearing almost like a gumball machine.

Enjoy the Moment -

Metaphor or Simile
This concept is meant to share a meaning or metaphor with its imagery.
Because we have an hour glass and its sitting on a desk, we see that this girl is taking a break from life and enjoying a moment at the beach.

A dream is a wish your heart makes -

Physical shape similarity
A use of an object or part of an object that is similar in shape.
I felt that the hourglass had a similar shape to the heel of a stiletto and that it would be fun to use it on a glass slipper so there would be a dual meaning of Cinderella's time running out at midnight.
